a Celebration of International Women’s Day at Zion

Staged by the Manchester – St. Petersburg Friendship Society to mark the 50th Anniversary of the Ties of Friendship between our two cities.

All are welcome (it’s not just for women!)

1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Traditional Russian Food – borshch & bliny
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. . Workshops

* Soul Singing with acclaimed Soul Diva Yvonne Shelton
* Learn to play the Balalaika
* Round table talks/discussions – Life in Britain, a Russian woman’s perspective (in Russian and English)
*Russian traditional costume – with colourful regional examples
* Children’s Activities (ages 3 – 5, 5 – 7)

4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

* a capella singing with the Mad Donnas
* Songs and Melodies from Russia with the Kalina Balalaika Ensemble
* and acclaimed singer and instrumentalist, winner of the
2012 BBC Folk Award for Best Original Song “The Herring Girl”
