Like most voluntary groups, we try to provide some services for our members specifically, as well as pursuing the general aims of the Society. For all members we circulate a bi-monthly bulletin; as well as Society news and notices, this gives information about Russia-related local events and includes occasional articles and other contributions from members. Social events are usually informal, like going together to see a Russian film, concert or exhibition and entertaining Russian guests.
Many members are actively engaged in educational, charitable, musical and medical links with St. Petersburg. The Society encourages and supports them and can offer informal advice. Apart from specific services to members, the Society arranges occasional open lectures, advises bodies seeking contacts with Russia and assists Manchester City Council, RIA Novosti and others with “Russian” events.
